Penn Highlands Community Nurses Home Support Services, Inc. employs Personal Care Aides who provide personal care, home chore services, and respite care in the homes of our clients. If you are a caring, compassionate, reliable person who enjoys working with the elderly and disabled, consider applying for a Personal Care Aide position. Applicant Requirements:

  • All Potential Employees must complete a Criminal Record Check and Child Abuse Clearance Check and must meet the criteria as outlined by The PA Dept. of Aging. Please read our list of the prohibitive offenses that make a person ineligible for employment.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must be willing to submit to a urine drug screen.
  • Must have reliable transportation and a telephone available for assignments.
  • Must be self-directed and able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to follow written instructions and be able to document services provided.
  • Must demonstrate tact, patience and good personal hygiene.
  • Must be willing to work some hours every other weekend and some holidays.
  • Must be a caring, compassionate individual who can maintain client/Agency confidentiality.
  • Must provide proof of I.D. (Valid Driver’s License and Social Security Card)

General Job Description:

  • Hours vary and most employees are offered as many or as little work hours as they are available for.
  • Shifts range from one hour to eight hours or more.
  • Community Nurses provides training. CNA or other experience is helpful, but not mandatory.
  • A Personal Care Aide…
  1. Provides non-medical personal care services including assistance with bath or shower, shampoo, hair care, oral hygiene, toileting, etc.
  2. Assists with ambulation and other activities of daily living.
  3. Keeps the client's home clean and orderly.
  4. Performs household duties such as: dusting, vacuuming, changing/making beds, meal preparation, dishwashing, trash removal, laundry, shopping, errands etc.
  5. Provides relief to family members and provides companionship for client.
  6. Observes the client for general physical, emotional and mental conditions, reports any changes or concerns to Nurses on duty.
  7. Assists client to live in a clean, healthy, safe environment
